Creating a Sandbox

From a Run

Open a run that is still Draft or Optimized and click Sandbox. Deckle Plus creates (or reopens) a run-linked sandbox seeded with that run's grade, widths and current patterns. It inherits the run's machine and constraints — those can't be changed in the sandbox.

A Standalone Sandbox

Sandbox → New Sandbox

Choose a machine, paper type and GSM, and give the sandbox a name.

Add the widths you want to plan

Each is a width and a target weight — plain rows, not tied to a live order.

Build patterns

Standalone sandboxes are hand-built — use the manual pattern builder (see Modifying & Comparing).

Copy from Order

When adding widths to a standalone sandbox, Copy from order… pulls the sizes and weights of an existing order in as a starting point. They still come in as plain sandbox rows — the sandbox stays disconnected from that order until you turn it into a run and assign the widths.

What Deckle Plus Does

Deckle Plus solves the deckle matching problem — the challenge of cutting fixed-width paper reels into narrower customer-specified widths with minimum trim waste. It uses a two-phase algorithm (column generation + knapsack solve) that runs in milliseconds, reducing trim waste from a typical 2–5% to under 0.5%. Demand is entered as a target weight in metric tons per width, not a roll count. Organizations are provisioned by the Deckle Plus team; there is no self-serve signup.
