Introduction

What is Deckle Plus?

Deckle Plus is an end-to-end production management platform purpose-built for paper mills and converting operations. It combines a mathematically-optimal cutting engine with a complete operational workflow, from customer order entry through inventory tracking, production execution, and delivery challan generation.

Unlike generic manufacturing software, Deckle Plus is built around the specific constraints of deckle-based cutting: your machine's width, its blade count limit, and the minimum trim margin your paper grade requires. Every optimization respects these constraints automatically.

Key Concepts

Deckle Width

The maximum usable paper width on your machine. All cutting patterns must sum to ≤ deckle width (with trim). This is configured once per machine and enforced by the optimizer on every run.

Cutting Pattern

A single "slice" of the deckle: a combination of order widths and trim that fills the machine width in one pass. A production run contains one or more cutting patterns, each executed a certain number of times to fulfil the total order quantity.

Trim Waste

The paper that cannot be used after all order widths are cut from the deckle. Expressed as a percentage of total paper consumed, trim waste is the primary metric Deckle Plus optimizes. The platform targets < 0.5% trim waste across all patterns in a run.

Order Types

Deckle Plus supports three order types: REEL (standard roll widths), SHEET (width × length sheet pairs), and THERMAL (thermal paper rolls with core/OD specifications). All three can coexist in the same production queue.
