Paper Grades

Deckle Plus ships with support for the most common paper grades. You can add custom grades for your specific operation.

  • Kraft Paper: unbleached, high tensile strength, used in bags, packaging, and sack paper
  • Duplex Board: multi-layer board with a white-coated face, used in cartons and packaging
  • Cylinder Mold Board: produced on a cylinder mould machine, high bulk and stiffness
  • Newsprint: low GSM, short fibre, used in offset printing
  • Coated Paper: one or two-side coated, used in magazines and high-quality print
  • Tissue / MG Kraft: machine glazed, used in wrapping and hygiene products

GSM Configuration

GSM (grams per square metre) is the paper weight specification. Each paper type record stores a GSM value (or range). The GSM is used to:

  • Validate that an order's GSM matches the machine's loaded paper
  • Calculate theoretical reel weights from width and length
  • Group inventory stock by grade and GSM for FIFO allocation

Per-type Settings

Each paper type record stores a GSM value (or range) and can carry any grade-specific constraints your operation requires. For example, if lighter tissue grades need special handling, you can note this in the paper type record and reference it during run planning.

Customer-specific Specs

Customer records can store specific width tolerances and paper specifications. When a customer's orders are included in a run, the system validates that the order widths and paper type match the customer's stored specs.
