THERMAL Widths
Definition
THERMAL is a width type for thermal-grade rolls — POS receipts, label stock, ATM rolls. It records one width and a target weight on the order, exactly like a REEL width, but with one important difference: the optimizer does not plan a cutting pattern for a THERMAL width. It is a record-only line.
THERMAL widths are not cut by Deckle Plus
The optimization engine skips every THERMAL width when it builds patterns. Use this type for thermal-roll demand you want visible on the order — for tracking, stock fulfilment, reporting and dispatch — but that you are producing outside the deckle plan (a separate slitting line, or bought-in stock). If you want the optimizer to cut it, enter it as REEL.
Fields
The form is the same as a REEL width: paper type, GSM, a single Size (mm), the target weight in MT, optional sale price, allowed variance and descriptors. There is no height field. In the order view a THERMAL width carries an orange Thermal badge.
Core & OD
Deckle Plus has no dedicated core-diameter or outer-diameter fields on an order width. Record those specs as descriptors (Setup → Descriptors) — for example a CORE descriptor with values 12, 25, 76 and an OD descriptor. Set them on the order width like any other descriptor.
Fulfilling a THERMAL Width
Because no run produces it, a THERMAL width is completed by committing finished-goods stock to it from the Inventory screen — the committed weight counts toward the width and, once it covers the target, the width is marked Completed. From there it is dispatched and appears on the delivery challan like any other line. If you add a THERMAL width to a run it is simply ignored by the optimizer; it does not need to be removed, but it also gains nothing from being there.
